Why GoldKey asks for your information during sign-up

A GoldKey Account gives you access to services such as GoldKey Secure Sign In and GoldKey Vault Cloud Storage – secured with two-factor authentication utilizing a GoldKey compatible security token. We ask for some personal information during sign-up in order to provide a way for you to securely regain access to your account, if needed, while helping prevent unauthorized access.

Name. Your name is standard contact information that helps us to know who you are and communicate with you about your GoldKey Account.

Current email address. Current Email Address should be an email address belonging to you that you use regularly. This email address is tied uniquely to your GoldKey ID, and is used to communicate with you about your GoldKey Account.

Location. Enter your country or territory of residence in this field.

Date of Birth. Your date of birth helps us provide you with things like age-appropriate settings. We won't display it without your permission.

Gender. This field is optional.

Mobile phone. Should you need to go through Account Access Recovery, the fact that you have physical possession of your phone makes it possible for us to provide easier ways for you to regain access to your account. (Account Access Recovery is the process used to regain access to your GoldKey account when you cannot use your security token due to a forgotten PIN, a lost / stolen device, or some other unforseen situation.) We may ask you to verify this number. If you do not have a mobile phone, please provide another number for this use.

Personal Question and Answer. This information will be used as part of the account access recovery process. We recommend that you consider the following:

  • Choose a question with an answer that is memorable, but not easy to guess.
  • Enter your answer as a phrase or complete sentence.
  • Never tell anyone this information and don't write it down or send it by email.
  • Periodically select a different question.
For your security, please make sure the answer to your Personal Question is: 1) something only you know; 2) not likely to change over time; and 3) a minimum of five characters long.

Additional Phone Number. In the event that you do not have your mobile phone, this phone number can be used to provide the verification required for our account access recovery process.

After you've created your account, you can review or edit the information you provide through the User Profile on GoldKeyID.com. (Note that you cannot modify your date of birth once you've created your account.)
